Missed/
Cancelled
Lessons
During the academic school year, the studio does not provide refunds or credits for missed/canceled lessons for any reason. However, a make-up lesson will be provided as long as it fits within studio availability.
When possible, please provide at least 24 hours advanced notice of an absence. If a make-up slot is available, the student will be offered the opportunity to make-up the lesson. If the time is not convenient for the student or if all the make-up slots have already been filled for the week, no make-up lesson will be provided. Make-up lessons are usually scheduled on Fridays but can be done earlier in the week if the time is convenient. Note: Most Fridays are available for make-up lessons. However, there’s usually one Friday a month I have another commitment.
If the instructor has to cancel lessons for any reason, the payment for those lessons will be credited to the following month’s payment.
Studio Schedule
Regular lessons are provided Monday-Thursday.
Thanksgiving Day & Black Friday: The studio will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. If you have a lesson scheduled on Thanksgiving Day, you will have the option of moving the lesson to earlier in the week, as long as schedule permits, or cancelling the lesson without having to pay for it.
Christmas & New Year’s Break: The studio will be closed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Exact dates will be determined at the beginning of the academic school year.
Other Observed Holidays
Memorial Day: Students scheduled on Mondays have the option to reschedule their lesson or cancel without having to pay.
Independence Day: This usually falls during the instructor’s planned summer vacation.
Labor Day: Students scheduled on Mondays have the option to reschedule their lesson or cancel without having to pay.
Summer Schedule
The summer schedule begins approximately the beginning of the third week of June through the end of the second week of August. The studio will remain open during the summer except for the instructor’s planned vacations.
During the summer period, the studio will be a little more flexible with cancelled lessons due to planned family vacations. If the student’s family has a planned vacation during the summer period listed above, and informs the studio about their absence in advance, the studio will not charge for the missed lesson during that time.
If the student decides to pause lessons for the entirety of the summer period, the studio cannot hold that student’s slot without payment. The studio cannot guarantee lesson availability if the student chooses to pause lessons without payment.
Misc
policies
Punctuality: Please have the student arrive at least five minutes prior to the start of the lesson so that the student is ready when the lesson time begins. A tardy student will be given only the time remaining in the student’s scheduled lesson period. Students should be quiet while in the waiting area so as not to disturb other students. Students should bring all required books and materials to each lesson. Parents should pick students up if they are not sitting in the waiting room during the lesson as soon as the lesson is over to avoid overcrowding the studio.
Food and Drink: Food and drink are permitted in the studio as long as students are responsible to clean up after themselves. However, please do not eat or chew gum during the lesson.
Practice Expectations: Students are expected to practice 5 days a week for 30 minutes each day. Parents are encouraged to monitor their student’s practices and ensure that the student is given a quiet practice area to complete all the assignments.
Parking: The studio offers two parking options. First, the driveway to the right of the studio is designated for student parking. However, if a student is currently parked there, you may park on the street along the front of the studio.
Access: The studio is in a residential neighborhood and while it’s not a high traffic area, there are cars, trucks, and bicyclists who use the street more heavily during certain times of the day. We recommend that parents accompany their children to and from the studio. The studio is not responsible for any injuries or accidents outside of the studio area.
Photos and Video: The studio has a social media and business website where we post student photos and small video clips from recitals. If you do not want your child’s photos or videos posted, please let the studio know in writing.
